Glyssen 1.1 Released!

We are pleased to announce the release of Glyssen 1.1. While there is one critical bug fix and a few other minor improvements, the major new feature in this version of Glyssen is the addition of support for direct access to data from live Paratext 8 projects. This means that if Paratext 8 (or later) is installed, Glyssen’s Open Project dialog box will now display an entry for each eligible Paratext project on the computer. Rather than having to obtain or create a Text Release Bundle for the project, you can simply select the desired Paratext project and Glyssen will create a project for it. And if changes are required to the Scripture text during the script preparation process, the Update button in Glyssen’s Project Properties button will pull in those changes, and the script will be updated accordingly.
A few important notes:

  • You should still carefully follow your organization’s publishing and archival guidelines to ensure that the audio recording properly corresponds to an approved version of the text.
  • Glyssen continues to support Text Release Bundles as downloaded from the Digital Bible Library (both metadata version 1.5 and 2.0), as well as “ad-hoc” bundles created using Paratext 7.6 (a beta version which was never officially released). For Paratext projects that have not yet been upgraded to the version 8 format, it will still be necessary to access the data via a Text Release Bundle.
