Hi All, I recently bought a new phone. It has Android 15 installed on it. On SAB it says “target platform android 14.”
When I create new APK’s they work on my old devices but do not work on my new phone. The APK installs without errors.
RAB APPS seem to work for some reason… I am not sure why that would be behave differently.
Has there been any testing done for android 15? It simply closes the app and says
“Something went wrong with…”
“Closed because this app has a bug”
“Try updating this app after its developers provides a fix for this error”
We are currently in the process of updating SAB for 13.0 which will include setting the target platform to Android 15.
Realistically, apps created with SAB 12.6 with the target plaform set to Android 14 should work on Android 15 phones.
It would be helpful for us to make sure SAB 13.0 generated apps work on Android 15 by getting a Logcat of the error you are seeing. Here is a video about capturing a Logcat.
If you are able to do this, it will help us support Android 15 in near future.

Thank you for generating the Logcat. I looked at it. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough information to narrow down where the error is occurring (other than a NullPointerException).
I was waiting to upgrade my Samsung A15 from Android 14 to 15. I just upgraded it to test out an one of my test apps build with SAB 12.6. It didn’t have problems running at all.
You problem may be:
- specific to your project
- specific to your hardware / flavor of Android 15
Could you send me an email (chris_hubbard@sil.org) with a link to a zip of your project? I will will build your project with SAB 12.6 and try on my phone. If I can reproduce your issue, then we have a better chance of finding the issue.

That’s odd… I did a problem checker in paratext and didn’t find anything “new” that would be causing a crash…

I would avoid upgrading to A16. I just got one, as my A15 had USB connectivity issues. Within a week the new phone A16 started having the same issues…
