Is there a way to mark introductions and endings to a story?

I’m trying APM for the first time and trying to add an oral story that has an introduction and closing remark, which don’t align with any particular verse. The Mark Verse and Transcription sections seem to want everything to match up with a specific verse. Is there a way mark extra material? Could I can just add a marker in the edit box in Transcribe before the first verse and after the last verse? If I did that what marker would I use for sensible behaviour when I export to Paratext? I looked up the USFM guide and this page indicates that \ip can be used under \s or \ms, but I’m trying that in the PT project and \ip is flagged as an error.

I’ve experimented with a few things, and have got this far:

  • I added a custom.sty with:
\Marker ip
\Italic
\OccursUnder s p

Then I’m adding a \s and \ip in the transcription. However, the \ip doesn’t come through to Paratext. It works if I put it after a \v, but I want it before the first verse in the section. Maybe this is an unanticipated scenario?
Putting \ip at the end for the closing blurb works. See images showing the transcription and the result in PT.

Also, I’m wondering why it inserts \p for every verse…
